Ivan Aguilera
Hola, birders! My name is Ivan and I feel like I’ve been birding my whole life, starting in my home town of Villa de Leyva, and then expanding to several regions in Central Andes Cordillera around Bogota. I hold a degree as a professional birdwatching guide and have been designing, coordinating and guiding tours for a few years. One of my favorite birds is the endemic Yellow-eared Parrot, which depends heavily on mature Wax Palm forests to live and thrive. This bird was very close to extinction but now we have a few well-preserved areas including one near my home town of Salento.
Fun Fact: Playing the cello has been an important part of my life. My love for music has translated into a greater interest in birdsong.
